Rural Kids4greatness®™.

“Rural Kids4Greatness®™” campaign is put together to support young kids in rural communities through sports. My name is Abel Ahiram Baraya, and founder of the Big Center Foundation, a private initiative that seeks to support young under privileged and displaced kids through sports engagement. As an ex professional basketball player myself and coming from a very humble background, sports played a critical role in my life and turned me into the man that I am today. Though my carrier was bedeviled by persistent injuries, it drove me to further research why alot of athletes from Nigeria and Africa suffer consistently from injuries. The most prominent culprit was the kind of facilities we train on.

My campaign aims to support communities with huge talent base, but zero facility in the growth and development of its talents, transforming potential into fine athletes with a future.  The goal of this campaign is to put together a soccer pitch in Zawan a community in Jos Plateau state that holds thousands of young energetic kids most of whom have indicated interest in soccer, and looking for positive ways to channel their energies.

Our efforts so far has been the supply of training equips like soccer balls, hurdles, training bibs and other items to aid and encourage them to train on bare surface, but this campaign is to raise two million naira (2million) to put together a proper soccer pitch in Zawan.

Our hope is that with your generous support we would be able to put together a soccer pitch with green grass, lighting, protected with wire mesh and a borehole to ensure the grass flourish, and  also support the community’s water needs. This facility will not only support a healthier  growth and development of the young athletes and adolescents  in  Zawan and environs but will equally be a beacon of hope for thousands of kids who are displaced and resident in the community.
