I am raising funds to rehabilitate the Oke-Adini community borehole in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, to restore access to clean and safe water for the residents. The borehole, which previously served as the community’s primary water source, is currently non-functional due to outdated infrastructure and wear and tear. This has left the community without a reliable water supply, forcing residents to rely on unsafe alternatives that expose them to waterborne diseases and other health risks. The project will involve installing a solar-powered submersible pump and eight solar panels to ensure a sustainable and eco-friendly water supply. Additionally, we will replace the damaged water storage system with four durable 250L UPVC tanks, upgrade the plumbing infrastructure, and reconstruct the fetching points for easy access. Funds will also cover the cost of technical expertise, essential materials like cables, pipes, and joint kits, and training for community members to maintain the system. A portion of the funds will go toward awareness campaigns to educate residents on water conservation and hygiene practices. By supporting this project, you will help provide clean water to over 2,000 residents, improve public health, and alleviate the burden on women and children who spend hours fetching water. This intervention will not only address immediate water needs but also promote long-term sustainability and resilience within the community.
I am raising funds to rehabilitate the Oke Adini community borehole in Ilorin, Kwara State, to restore access to clean, safe water for over 2,000 residents. The borehole, which once provided a reliable water source, has become non-functional due to outdated infrastructure and wear and tear. This has left the community relying on unsafe and distant water sources, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases and placing a heavy burden on women and children. Access to clean water is a fundamental human need and critical for health, education, and economic well-being. Without immediate intervention, the community will continue to face health challenges and reduced quality of life. At this stage, the funds are crucial to implement a sustainable solution using a solar-powered submersible pump, which will ensure reliable and cost-effective water supply. The project also includes replacing damaged infrastructure, such as storage tanks and plumbing, and constructing fetching points for easy access. This intervention is timely and essential to address the urgent water crisis, improve public health, and enhance community resilience. By supporting this project, you will help bring sustainable access to clean water, reduce health risks, and empower the Oke-Adini community for a better future.
The funds raised will directly address the water scarcity in Oke Adini by rehabilitating the community’s borehole and implementing a sustainable water supply system. A solar-powered submersible pump and eight solar panels will be installed to ensure an uninterrupted, cost-effective water supply. Damaged components, including water storage tanks and plumbing systems, will be replaced with durable alternatives, and fetching points will be reconstructed for easy and hygienic access. This project will solve the immediate challenge of unreliable water access, providing clean and safe water to over 2,000 residents. By reducing dependence on unsafe water sources, it will significantly decrease the prevalence of waterborne diseases such as cholera and diarrhea, improving overall public health. The project will also reduce the burden on women and children, who currently spend hours fetching water from distant sources. This will free up time for education, economic activities, and other productive engagements, enhancing the community’s overall quality of life. Furthermore, the use of renewable solar energy will ensure long-term sustainability, minimize operational costs, and promote environmental conservation. Training community members on basic maintenance will empower them to manage the system effectively. The impact of this project will be transformative, fostering health, gender equity, economic growth, and environmental sustainability in the Oke-Adini community.
