Funding Goal

According to UNICEF, even though primary education is officially free and compulsory in Nigeria, about 10.5 million of the country's children aged 5-14 years are not in school.

Individuals (especially children) are often faced with question of motivation both own and of others in different activities and fields of their functioning.

It is also paramount to know that when children lack the right drive to learn, it could lead to poor academic performances, poor attendance rate in school, increased rate of out-of-school drop-outs and more worrisome tendency to engage in social vices.

Adopting frequent physical activities in the routine of children and their participation in it at a young age encourages positive cognition development.

Among other factors traced to being the cause of poor academic outcomes, out-of-school dropouts and low attendance rate in school; motivation to learn and lack of self confidence has been researched to be the major causes resulting to these problems in Ibiade community in Ogun State.

As a result to addressing this problem, PROJECT SPORTIVATE was birthed.

Project Sportivate is a "Be the Change (BTC) project" founded by two second year "Teach for Nigeria" fellows with the aim to address the problem of "low drive to learning" among children in low-income communities through their routine participation in an after-school sporting (football) and learning activity carried out on the football field.

Donations made to this pool will be used to secure football kits (Football boots, Jerseys, Shinguards, training bibs, goalkeepers gloves, football hose, etc...) and equipments (Training cones, standard gaol post nets, training hurdles, free-kick mannequins, etc...) as well as teaching and learning resources for 30 selected learners who exhibits low drive to learn in Local Government Primary School 2, Ibiade, Ogun State (The pilot school).

To achieve the set goals and objectives of this social cause, we are seeking to partner with well-meaningful Individuals and organizations to create a more sustainable income which will scale-up the project and increase its impacts to other schools in the community and beyond.
