"Clean Water, Healthy Lives" campaign: funds for water systems, advocates universal access...
Tiwan Tiwa is a 3-day Community Tourism Initiative, whose primary intention is to work with local communities to showcase their culture, heritage and assets through food, music, dance, film, theatre, visual arts and street performances. It intends to utilise the arts to revive abandoned historical sites across Lagos Island and transform them into cultural hubs. In order to stimulate economic growth, it will also focus on empowering young people to reach their full potential and generate income for the members of the community.
Themed Ours To Play, this year, from the 16th to 18th of November, we will be working alongside the community within the Brazilian quarters of Lagos Island - where the first Afro Brazilian Yoruba descendants settled - to create an extraordinary culture and tourism experience happening across various locations in Lagos Island.
Day 1: The Interactive Sessions
An Intriguing combination of stimulating talks, short films, visual presentation and performances that focus on the importance of preserving our cultural assets.
Day 2: BLOCK PARTY LAGOS
An open street activation which takes all forms of creativity and individuality; dance, music, theater, art, fashion, food and drinks out into the streets.
Day 3: The Brazilian Tour
A tour of 12 historic sites within the Afro-Brazilian quarters of Lagos Island.
Tiwan Tiwa is a non-for-profit platform that is necessary to mobilize and encourage the youth to reach their full potential. Your pledges and support will go into:
Supporting the Eko Samba procession where we bring 30 children from across Lagos to perform at BLOCK PARTY LAGOS
Providing support to cover feeding and transportation for over 100 artists, musicians, performers and talent coming from all over Lagos to perform at this platform.
Hiring trained professionals with equipment to document the activation
Buying art materials for the kid’s art studio, we intend to setup at the Upper Campus Square during BLOCK PARTY LAGOS.
