"Clean Water, Healthy Lives" campaign: funds for water systems, advocates universal access...
Ikot-ObioEma, Etim-Ekpo local government area in Akwa-Ibom state, has been off the national power grid for four years. This has submerged the community into darkness, given the non-existence of electricity power supply. The adverse effects in the community include low level of productivity, high cost of living, unemployment among the youth population, and stifled business growth of micro, small and medium enterprises. Many residents, especially the affluent retirees resort to diesel generators to tackle the power challenge. This has also reduced the quality of life due to air pollution, perpetuating a cycle of economic setbacks and hindering progress. This project seeks to provide affordable and innovative electricity to households and businesses in Ikot-ObioEma through alternative renewable sources of power with adequate storage facilities. We intend to use what they have such as waste and water to light up their community.
We are embarking on a crucial fundraising initiative to tackle the pressing issues surrounding power generation and distribution. Our goal is to establish a groundbreaking power generation source, harnessing innovation to revolutionize the energy landscape. Simultaneously, we aim to create robust distribution channels, ensuring efficient and widespread access to the generated power. By addressing these challenges head-on, we strive to contribute to a sustainable and reliable energy future. Your support in this endeavour will not only fuel technological advancements but also empower communities with improved and accessible energy solutions, paving the way for a brighter, more efficient, and more sustainable future.
The mobilized funds will play a pivotal role in delivering affordable and cutting-edge electricity solutions, accompanied by robust storage facilities, to both households and businesses in Ikot-ObioEma. This transformative initiative is poised to catalyze a surge in productivity within the community, opening up avenues for increased employment, particularly among the youth. The ripple effect extends to the empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises, fostering a conducive environment for enhanced economic activities. Furthermore, the project is anticipated to generate new revenue streams for the community, diversifying income sources across various sectors and creating a more sustainable and resilient economic foundation for Ikot-ObioEma.
