What are you raising money for?

I am raising money to afford the services of a qualified and experienced lawyer who will help me in my defense against the defamation claim. Early this year, news broke out about a Nigerian CEO that was always verbally assaulting and threatening his employees amongst other actions (full story here https://techcabal.com/2022/03/21/tyranny-in-the-workplace-the-chaotic-culture-of-bento-africa/) which sparked a wider conversation on Twitter with individuals sharing their personal experiences of how they were maltreated at their workplaces (past or present). There was a ''Twitter Space'' (a feature that allows for live audio conversations) organised for people who were interested in sharing their workplace experiences. As every individual shared theirs, I compiled a list of all the companies that were mentioned and made a tweet. A month later, I was issued a cease and desist letter by one of the companies with a demand to pay 100million in damages in tandem with other demands.

What will the funds raised help achieve?

The funds raised will help me defend and win my case because I have proof that I did not defame the said company but was only corroborating what others said. But more importantly, it will give confidence to people who experience any form of toxicity to take any action that they deem fit to protect their mental health And most importantly, it will generate the conversation about creating a healthy work environment for people to bring their full selves and be productive. I am hoping this will be the beginning of a conversation that is long overdue in the corporate space as many who have experienced workplace toxicity are currently dealing with trauma in tandem with a long list of illnesses and negative emotions.
