Roland Akindele, one of the brightest minds in the legal profession has taken on a new project. He is assembling a crop of tax experts from the industry and academia to write a comprehensive textbook on corporate taxation for lawyers and law students. This is in honour of Professor Johnson Ola Anifalaje, a renowned professor who has dedicated decades of his life to impacting law graduates and undergraduates. The book will serve as a fantastic introduction both to the mechanics of corporate taxation and how to be your own corporate tax lawyer.
Being part of this project is an honour and a great privilege for me, as he happens to be one of the few people that have contributed immensely to my development as a budding corporate lawyer.
In order to realize the goal of making this project a roaring success, the editorial team is appealing to spirited and philanthropic individuals and corporate entities for support. Kindly find the flyer attached below for further instructions or send in a dm on your favourite social media platform.
The proposed book is divided into two segments as follows:
Segment A: Original essays on contemporary issues in corporate taxation in Nigeria are welcome from highly regarded legal and tax practitioners who are in practice or in the academia.
The challenges of diversifying the economic base of Nigeria and the impact of the current global financial meltdown on statutory allocations for various States in the country from the Federation Account have significantly increased the focus of all the levels of government on taxation. Consequently, increasing number businesses and ordinary citizens are now faced with more tax-related issues than before. The taxation of companies’ income and other taxes that impact directly on businesses command more attention than any other category of taxation because of the potential for economic stimulus, hence the justification for the theme of the book project.
Segment B: This segment is tentatively titled Professor Anif: rhapsodies and panegyrics for a quintessential legal scholar. Contributions are welcome from the honouree’s contemporaries, associates, former students et cetera; and those who have come in contact with him whether as clients or by reputation.
The tentative budget covers the production of hard copy (1st 1000 copies); book of abstracts (hard copy & audio book); proof reading & editing; cover design; launch; marketing and miscellaneous expenses.
