Help us Purchase Laptops to train youths in Tech

What are you raising money for?

In the year 2025 we plan to train 50 youths in 4 tech skills but since tech requires a practical based training, our beneficiaries need laptops that can use in following the sessions. To combat this, we need to purchase 10 laptops with which we would use to conduct this training. Currently, one of the refurbished laptops (a HP ProBook 650 G4 8GB Intel Core I5 SSD 256GB) costs around ?300,000 which will total the prices of the 10 laptops to ?3,000,000. After this fundraising campaign, we plan on purchasing the laptops on the 12th of January 2025 before the commencement of the tech training on the 12th of April, 2025. Your donations will go a long way into bringing our dream of training and giving jobs to the youths in tech to reality.

Why are you raising the funds?

Did you know that the Niger Delta region of Nigeria generates about 80% of the government's revenue, yet 7 out of 10 people live below the poverty line? The oil spillages going on there is one of the major causes of this poverty. Estimations show that over 240,000 barrels of oil are being spilled into the environment every year. Take Gift for instance, a 25 years old girl from Bayelsa who forfeited her dreams of tertiary education and picked up the responsibility of fending for her family with a N15,000/month salary after they lost their primary source of livelihood; agriculture. Her story adequately represents that of millions of youths in the Niger Delta who cannot afford tertiary education, and hence result to petty theft or begging on roadsides for survival. As a result of this, I started my organization called Tech4Rural. We aim to equip 50 youths between the ages of 18-30 years from villages in the Niger Delta with tech skills. We will be training these youths in Digital Marketing, Website Development, Graphics and UI/UX Design. After the 5 months of tech training, we will place our beneficiaries in a 3 months internship, where they will start earning some income.

What will the funds raised help achieve?

The laptops purchased during this fundraising campaign will be used to train over 50 youths in the Niger Delta every year through our 3 cohorts thereby enabling our beneficiaries to gain in-demand digital skills and also get placed with partnering organizations for a paid internship which will give them a practical experience and allow them to earn simultaneously. After the program, they will be well equipped to to sign up for freelancing platforms like Upwork and Fiverr which are platforms that allow people with tech skills to gain access to international clients offering services like graphics design, digital marketing etc. As a special thank you from us and our beneficiaries, our beneficiaries would be happy to help the top donors who donate above N100K with a free webinars.
