What are you raising money for?

My name is Joy, a first-generation graduate raised in a home where education was never optional, even when resources were limited. As the first female child of a hardworking farmer and a teacher, I learned early the value of sacrifice, discipline, and perseverance. I have been offered admission to the University of Aberdeen, Scotland (UK), with a total tuition of £27,000. I am grateful to have secured £8,000 in scholarships, but I urgently need £3,000 to pay the initial deposit and secure my admission. The remaining balance will be completed through continued fundraising, personal savings, and permitted part-time work. This opportunity represents years of sacrifice—mine and my parents’—and the chance to turn that sacrifice into lasting progress. Any support, no matter the amount, will go directly toward my tuition and help ensure the values my parents fought so hard to instill in me live on. Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read my story and for any support you are able to give

Why are you raising the funds?

I am raising funds to support my postgraduate studies at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, where I have been offered admission to pursue a master’s degree. This opportunity is a major milestone in my academic journey and a chance to gain advanced knowledge and global exposure to make a meaningful impact in society. Growing up, my family faced financial challenges that required resilience. My father initially worked as a bike rider, and we lived in a small one-room apartment, struggling to afford essentials like food and education. After an accident forced him to stop riding, we relocated to a rural village in Sango Ota called Iyana Ilogbo, where my father started a vegetable farming business to sustain our family. As the first female child, I helped with farm tasks, learning persistence, careful planning, and responsibility. My mother, a teacher, shaped my academic foundation, organizing study sessions and inspiring excellence. Despite hardships, my parents prioritized education, teaching me the value of hard work, discipline, and perseverance. I have secured £8,000 in scholarships but urgently need £3,000 to pay the initial deposit and secure my admission. Your support will directly fund my tuition and enable me to pursue this transformative opportunity. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings me closer to achieving my goals and honoring my parents’ sacrifices. Thank you for considering my request and supporting me in turning this dream into reality.

What will the funds raised help achieve?

The funds raised will directly support my postgraduate studies at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, enabling me to pursue a master’s degree that will equip me with advanced knowledge, skills, and global exposure. This education will not only allow me to achieve academic excellence but also prepare me to contribute meaningfully to society and create a lasting positive impact. Specifically, the funds will cover the initial tuition deposit of £3,000, which is required to secure my place in the program. Meeting this requirement will allow me to begin my studies without delay and focus entirely on maximizing my learning and development. The remaining tuition and academic-related expenses will be funded through continued fundraising, personal savings, and permitted part-time work, ensuring that all contributions go directly toward supporting my education. Completing this master’s program will enable me to expand my professional opportunities, strengthen my capacity to solve complex problems, and apply innovative approaches to social and community initiatives. By gaining advanced knowledge and global exposure, I will be better positioned to contribute to meaningful social change, create opportunities for others, and inspire younger generations to pursue education despite challenges. Ultimately, every donation will help turn this academic opportunity into tangible outcomes: a highly skilled professional equipped to make a difference, a personal dream realized, and a foundation for contributing positively to my community and society at large. Your support is an investment in both my education and the broader impact I aim to achieve through it.
