What are you raising money for?

The first official Tableau User Group event in Abuja was held on November 4, 2023. It was a very auspicious day as we were joined by Tableau Ambassadors from Canada and Nigeria and Tableau enthusiasts residing in Abuja. Tableau User Groups are avenues for data rockstars, newbies, and Tableau fam to connect, collaborate, and share knowledge. Our first event was themed: Maps and Data Analysis in Tableau. Unknown to us, we were also joined by a professional thief who registered for the event and who happened to be the first to arrive at the event location. While Etido was presenting, the thief, who went by the name of Efe Igbo, strategically plotted his move, taking a seat behind the empty seat and laptop that Etido left behind. As we all kept our focus on Etido's presentation, the thief got a hold of his laptop and wasted no time leaving the premises. In him lies a very genuine, supportive, nature. You should meet him and hope that he's on your next project.

Why are you raising the funds?

We are raising funds to support Etido, an integral member of our Tableau community, who unfortunately fell victim to theft during our recent Tableau User Group event. Etido is not just an outstanding Tableau Ambassador; he embodies genuine kindness and unwavering support to all. Your contributions will help him replace the stolen laptop, which is essential for his work and our shared passion for data analytics. Let's come together and assist Etido in continuing his inspiring journey in the world of data. Here's something that the Tableau data community is not aware of. Earlier in the year, Etido spurred and organised the setup of the first Tableau meetup in Abuja. We were not even an official Tableau User Group at the time. He just wanted to see the Abuja community begin talking about data and making use of data to inform public decision-making.

What will the funds raised help achieve?

The funds raised will enable us to provide Etido with the essential tools he needs to continue his invaluable work within the Tableau community. Specifically, your contributions will help us replace his stolen laptop, which serves as the primary platform for him to create, share, and inspire others with data stories.
