I am raising 3,000,000 to completely rebuild the leaking roof of Vokesillusion7arts Gallery in Lufasi, Lagos. For 4 years, rain pours into our CAC-registered art space through holes in the ceiling. Water soaks canvases, destroys finished paintings, and drips on children while they create. I've used buckets and nylon to patch it because I refused to shut down this free community space. The 3M will cover new aluminum roofing sheets, woodwork, waterproofing, ceiling, labor, and replacing damaged art supplies and easels. It will also fix the walls and flooring damaged by 4 years of flooding. This gallery is not just my business. It's where a 7-year-old painted her first sunset. Where teenagers battling depression find color again. Where single moms like me sip, paint, and heal for 2 hours. Without a roof, we have no gallery. Without this gallery, my community loses its only free art therapy space. Your help saves 4 years of dreams.
I’m Victoria Okeoghene Awodi. a single mom and artist. I’m raising 3M now because after 4 years of patching, this roof will collapse if we face another rainy season. I registered Vokesillusion7arts Gallery with CAC to create a safe, free art space in Lufasi. Children who can’t afford lessons come here to paint. Adults come to heal from stress. My daughter and I depend on this space. But every rainfall now causes more damage. Mold is growing. Electrical wiring is at risk. The wooden structures are rotting. I’ve applied for BOI grants and used my personal income, but as a single mother, I can’t raise ?3M alone before the next heavy rains. This is urgent because: 1. Safety - The ceiling could cave in on children. 2. Survival - If we close for repairs without funds, we may never reopen. 3. Timing - Rainy season is here. Each storm destroys more art and supplies. I’ve given this community 4 years of my life. I’m not asking for luxury. I’m asking to keep the rain out so art, hope, and healing can stay in.
The 3,000,000 will completely solve our 4-year flooding crisis and secure Vokesillusion7arts Gallery for the next decade. **Direct impact of your donation:** 1. New Roof & Ceiling -1.8M for aluminum sheets, wood, waterproofing, and professional installation. No more leaks. 2. Interior Repairs - 700k to fix water-damaged walls, flooring, and electricals so the space is safe for kids. 3. Replace Supplies: 300k for canvases, paints, easels, and brushes destroyed by rain. Classes resume fully. 4. Sustainability: 200k for drainage and guttering to prevent future flooding. The human impact: - 50+ children/month keep their free art therapy space. - 20+ adults/month keep a place to de-stress and earn from sip & paint events. - My son and I keep our livelihood without fear of collapse. - Lufasi keeps its only dedicated art community center. Every donor will get video updates of the roof replacement. You won’t just fix a building. You’ll restore a space where broken people come to feel whole again. This is how we save art in Lagos, together.
