What are you raising money for?

The funds will be used to get copies of Son of the Soil Featuring The Pearl by Pearl Umana, authored by Uwem Umana The reading culture among Nigerian teenagers and young people have decreased and/or is not being sustained. Our foundation has seen this problem and we decided to step in! We believe readers are leaders, hence we want to encourage reading among the next generation of Nigerians- today's young people. We want to go to various secondary schools and organise reading competitions among students. We have chosen an interesting book by a Nigerian author, Uwem Umana to begin this reading drive. Son of the Soil and other stories captures what it means to be Nigerian in a fast changing world. The most important aspect of the book is the part written by Pearl Umana, titled The Pearl. The Pearl welcomes young mind to begin to think out of the box, and to consider ways to change their society by technological advancement. Imagine what the world would be if our young minds began to think of solutions to our problems. Son of the Soil is a book packed with lifelong lessons for the young minds, capable of bringing about positive change to the individuals and the larger society.

Why are you raising the funds?

The call for support, and donation is to enable us get free copies of Son of the Soil Featuring The Pearl by Pearl Umana, authored by Uwem Umana to Nigerian youths, especially students who will engage in reading, and public speaking competition. And in addition, the donations will enable us reward excellence in reading, and public speaking among Nigerian youths who will eventually emerge winners of the campaign. Furthermore, we hope to continue the project :" Amplifying Voices of Reader-Leaders Campaign in different dimensions via quiz, and essay and debate competitions. Our overall goal is to promote Africa's creative space, and literary spaces. We also believe that changing the narratives in Africa leadership style involves getting informed minds. To get informed minds, one has to be involved in reading. Hence, the theme, Amplifying Voices of Reader-Leaders Campaign to equip the youth and future leaders with the dynamics of leadership skills through reading.

What will the funds raised help achieve?

The funds will help in the national and global recognition of the impact of reading to the young generation, and by extension the country, and Africa in general. The funds will therefore get copies of the book :Son of the Soil and other Stories featuring The Pearl by Pearl Umana, authored by Uwem Umana to schools, youth and lovers of creativity and literacy. In the long run, we will use the funds to facilitate reading competitions. It is our hope that the Amplifying Voices of Reader-Leaders Campaign will be a national one that will boost the reading culture of Nigerian, especially the youth. We also hope your donation will go a long way to realise this passion.
