Raising money as a unit to support the Utako Church Project...
I am raising money for rainwater harvesting training. We kick-started the project in January 2024. We visited Erigi Isharun, Bolorunduro communities, of Ondo State, and The Ondo State Agricultural Commodities Association (OSACA). We introduced Omitide and sensitized them on rainwater harvesting and groundwater conservation. Based on the experience, we realized there is a need to conduct a training workshop for farmers on rainwater harvesting, therefore, a five-day training workshop on rainwater harvesting will be conducted for 50 vegetable farmers in the Erigi Isharun community. Our goal is to raise enough funds to purchase rainwater harvesting kits for each participant after the training. Every contribution will directly support our efforts to promote food security and groundwater conservation. Would you consider supporting our project by making a donation or spreading the word?"
Everyone has the right to clean water because water is essential for humans, animals, and plants. As important as this resource is, I experienced its scarcity while growing up, which harmed my education and health. However, while working with an NGO, I got an opportunity to learn more about the struggles of people in rural communities and small-scale farmers who still face a lot of challenges accessing water, especially during the drought season. This became a major concern for me as I was shocked to know that the water problem still exists and it has even gotten worse. Erigi Isharun is one of the communities. The farmers engage in Cocoa, Plantain, Kolanut, palm trees, walnuts, Cassava, Tomatoes, Maize, and vegetable farming. As a team lead, it was in the course of relating with farmers that I built strong relationships with community members and got a deep understanding of their struggle of not having enough water for farming during the drought season. This personal connection drives my passion for serving the community. Farmers in the Erigi Isharun community have over time exhibited their passion and commitment to community and personal development and I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to serve this community. I believe in its potential and my vision is to contribute to the community's growth and the overall well-being of everyone involved for positive change. As someone who deeply values the well-being of farmers and people in rural communities, your support would mean the world to us.
The funds raised will help us achieve several important goals for farmers in the Erigi Isharun community. Such as improved access to irrigation systems, imbibing the culture of harvesting rainwater for irrigation purposes during the drought season into farmers, and empowering them with the skills and rainwater harvesting kit necessary for drought season farming. This will contribute to the water management skills of the farmers. As a result of our project, we anticipate a more educated community on water management with increased productivity and improved overall well-being. These positive changes will contribute to the social and economic development of the community The overall goal we hope to achieve with this project is for farmers to be able to farm all year, learn the best farm practices, learn the act of water management, reduce topsoil wash-off by rainwater, reduce flooding, increase farmers’ income, soil and groundwater conservation, and reduce food insecurity. We're incredibly grateful for your support in making this vision a reality.
