Every year since 2016, myself and a couple of others have come together to crowdfund relief items for indigent riverine communities in Lagos State. With the help of individuals and companies, we have been able to reach over 5,000 individuals spanning different communities.
This year, for the 7th edition of The Relief Project, we plan to visit Abagbo, a community on the coastline of Lagos, on the 26th of December, and we need your help. Like a lot of other riverine communities, Abagbo is a small community with a population of women, men and children that practice subsistence living, as they have no commerce - their men are majorly fishermen, and their women roast and sell the seafood the men catch. They have no power supply, no portable water, no schools or healthcare.
We plan to go there with as many relief items we can get - food items (raw food of all types), school items (books, sandals, school bags, stockings), clothing items (well-worn and neatly-used clothes), hygiene items (sanitary towels and baby diapers) and general livelihood items - whatever you consider to be useful to someone else. We will pick up from you anywhere in Lagos.
